Every woman has a bra in her underwear closet. However, not every woman has a slip there. Who would have thought that once upon a time this lingerie item was absolutely necessary in order to wear a dress or a skirt. Slips were introduced in the 1920‘s. Women became fond of this undergarment as it offered more freedom to move and breathe than corsets that were also worn at that time.
Slips went out of style after the 1960’s. The reason was simple – designers began to create comfortable and concealed lining clothes. The slips became useless and since then have not recovered their primal glory. Nowadays slips are not so popular as well. They are usually used if the upper clothes are see–through and have no additional covering layers. They are also worn as a sexy inspiration that will surprise a man. An American based lingerie brand Luxxie Boston aims to change that. But make no mistake – the brand does not offer anything similar to your mother’s or grandmother’s slips.
The founder and CEO of Luxxie Boston Stefanie Mnayarji says the brand is rebooting slips to help women feel comfortable, sexy and confident all day long. Her words are not empty. In 2013, Luxxie Boston started collaborating with the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in order to create initial prototypes. The brand also brought together a group of over 60 women in different sizes (from 0 to 16) and asked them to evaluate the prototypes. Finally, after a careful preparatory work, Luxxie Boston has presented three styles that optimize comfort, support, sexiness and above all function: Cami, Slip and Maxi.
Cami style features two silky camisoles. These items will keep you supported from day to evening, from boardroom to boudoir.
Slip theme offers a very feminine bralette silk slip that is embellished with a transparent lace trim (optional) and delicate stripes. Another item that should get your attention is a girly bustier silk slip.
The last but not least is Maxi slips that are perfect to wear under your wedding dress or evening gown. Of course, due to the recent trend to wear lingerie as outerwear, these two slips could be worn without any additional clothes.
Luxxie Boston collection features bright shades such as noir, cosmic latte and platinum. And if you prefer darker tones, you may choose from burgundy, huntress green and midnight navy colors. The sizes are from 32 to 42.
The prices of the items start at 199 US Dollars for Cami bustier silk camisole and goes up to 295 US Dollars for Maxi bustier silk slip. As the prices are not low, Luxxie Boston promises that you will shoot two birds with one stone by buying its products. Apparently, brand’s slips are not only sexy and comfortable but also has the ability to shape you into the flattering silhouette without the “sausage effect” caused by the ordinary shapewear items.
