According to the results of the Intima Beachwear research, you definitely need something vivid to wear at the sea.
Intima is the leading French lingerie and beachwear magazine, which decided to carry out a research on swimwear marketing and trends in 2014. The magazine surveyed boutiques in five different geographical areas: France, Italy, Germany, UK and Ireland, USA and Canada. The results were summarized and presented in Mode City Paris – an international trade fair for lingerie and swimwear fashion. Here are some interesting information about the beachwear sector in Italy in 2014.
First of all, Italian boutiques have a very wide range of suppliers. According to the results of the research, 38 % boutiques sell up to 5 brands, 30 % can offer from 11 to 18 different brands and 23 % – even more. Consequently, Italy is one of the greatest places to look for that perfect beachwear item. By the way, the research shows that in Italy the best–selling swimwear items are: bikini set, short dress/sun dress, kaftan/tunic and one-piece bathing suit. But only a few women wear tankini. Men can purchase some beachwear items as well, as almost 70 % of Italian boutiques sell man swimwear. The most popular brand among men is the Emporio Armani.
Usually emotional and cheerful Italian people are drawn to printed swimwear. The research reveals that only 27 % of boutiques sell bikinies, tankinies and other items in solid colors. The top–selling beachwear pieces are printed in the most popular floral, polka dot, animal or ethnic patterns and most likely crafted from the popular red, green, yellow or orange tones. The favorite style in Italy is artisan.
Intima has made the list of the best–selling brands in Italy in 2014. These are: Simona Barbieri, PIN – UP stars, Maryan Mehlhorn, Emamo and Ermanno Scervino.
